Featuring 25 products from TIMB3R DIP 1.0 and 2.0
Kuala Lumpur, 7 March 2023 – The TIMB3R Design Incubator Programme (DIP) is showcasing its products at the 16th Malaysia Export Furniture Exhibition (EFE) 2023, starting today until 10 March.
Happening at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, TIMB3R DIP’s participation in the trade exhibition aims at drawing international exposure to the capability of the local timber and furniture industry in producing products that balance quality and style to meet the demand of today’s consumers. It also demonstrates the versatility and appeal of timber as a material making it a popular choice for contemporary furniture and home décor.
“After months of designing and building, TIMB3R DIP is ready to take the next step to achieve successful commercialisation on a global level. We are excited to be part of one of Southeast Asia’s largest international furniture and furnishing events,” said the Chairman of TIMB3R DIP Committee, Mr. Khoo Yeow Chong.
“We look forward to working with foreign investors, and tapping into collaboration opportunities with international brands,” he said.
A total of 25 timber products from the first two editions of TIMB3R DIP will be available for viewing at the event. Focusing on sustainability and innovation, the products range from furniture to decorative items, one of which includes the Best REKA Interiors Exhibition (RiX) 2022 Products Award winner, “Cayenne Cot” which is a multipurpose baby cot that can be transformed into a table or bed.
“TIMB3R DIP is poised to be a new thrust within the design, furniture, and timber sectors. This initiative encourages the creation of original timber products and furniture designs that are essential for the Malaysian timber industry to remain competitive as well as draws attention to Malaysia’s creative talents” said CEO of Malaysia Timber Council, Madam Noraihan Abdul Rahman.
“Response to TIMB3R DIP products has been assuring and we believe foreign investors will see the value in our bespoke pieces, especially in a market with an increasing penchant for uniqueness and individuality,” said Madam Noraihan.
“Though the pandemic has affected many of Malaysia’s industries, the overall timber industry registered encouraging export figures in 2021 and 2022. There is also a pent-up demand for furniture in line with the work-from-home trend. The success of the TIMB3R DIP programme is a testament to Malaysia’s ability to remain competitive in the global furniture industry. By focusing on innovation, design, and productivity, Malaysian furniture manufacturers can continue to meet the changing demand of consumers worldwide while maintaining their competitiveness against industry players in other countries,” she added.
The TIMB3R DIP booth at EFE 2023 is located at Hall 6, 6F01-02. The event takes place from 7 to 10 March, from 9.30 am to 6.00 pm. Admission is open to traders, industry professionals and business visitors by invitation and business card registration only.
