Petaling Jaya, 11 September 2024 – THE STORY BOOK, a storytelling event company that has been bringing stories to life through roleplay storytelling since 2018, has now opened its doors at the Curve. This relocation marks an exciting new chapter for THE STORY BOOK as it broadens its reach and strengthens its commitment of inspiring a love for storybooks through the power of storytelling.
Jeanisha Wan, Director of THE STORY BOOK, shared her enthusiasm about the new location and the exciting opportunities it offers. “We chose to move to the Curve to make it more convenient for families with children to visit our center. Being in a mall setting allows us to connect with a larger audience, and it provides our customers with the added ease of enjoying other activities before or after attending our events or classes. This integration with the mall environment enriches the overall experience, making it a fun and practical destination for families.”
THE STORY BOOK’s opening day at the Curve, themed ‘Treasure Island,’ was a lively and engaging event, filled with activities especially for families with young children. Guests enjoyed a variety of roleplay storytelling sessions and fun activities such as ‘Make Your Own Pirate Hat,’ ‘Treasure Hunt,’ ‘Walk the Plank,’ and ‘Pirate Train Express’. The activities reached a peak at midday when THE STORY BOOK’s dinosaur mascot, proudly waving a pirate flag, made a grand entrance to officiate the opening ceremony. In a special gesture, children from the Kasih Harapan orphanage in Kota Damansara were also invited to join in the activities of the day.
The opening day also kicked off THE STORY BOOK’s collaboration with Maybank for Maybank’s FUNancial Literacy Program. This initiative will see THE STORY BOOK and Maybank jointly conduct three storytelling and finance literacy talk sessions, held every two months. This innovative partnership aims to teach financial concepts to children through storytelling, making learning both fun and impactful.
Datuk Hamirullah Boorhan, Head, Community Financial Services Malaysia, Maybank said, “We believe that financial literacy is the foundation for building a resilient and sustainable community. This partnership represents a unique approach to making financial education accessible and engaging for all ages. By integrating financial concepts into captivating stories through our #FUNancial initiatives, we are not just imparting knowledge but nurturing a culture of financial empowerment that will resonate across generations aligned to our purpose of Humanising Financial Services.”
Further enhancing the experience at THE STORY BOOK’s new centre is its collaboration with Books for a Better World, a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting literacy through pre-loved books. These books from Books for a Better World will be available within THE STORY BOOK’s new location, as part of THE STORY BOOK’s initiative to encourage a love for books by making them accessible and affordable.
Elaine Liew, Centre Manager of the Curve added, “We are thrilled to welcome THE STORY BOOK to the Curve. Their presence adds a unique element to our mall, offering families with children engaging and educational experiences. This aligns perfectly with our goal of creating a dynamic environment that brings people together and makes the Curve a destination for memorable experiences. We believe that THE STORY BOOK will not only attract more visitors but also enhance the community atmosphere that the Curve is known for.”
THE STORY BOOK looks forward to welcoming visitors to its new centre at the Curve. More information of THE STORY BOOK’s upcoming events and programs can be found at www.thestorybook.my
