Qatar Airways Welcomes the Resumption of Daily Services to Penang

Qatar Airways returns to Penang with a welcome ceremony and expands its commitment to Malaysia with Kuala Lumpur flights increase

Kuala Lumpur, 30 October 2023 – Qatar Airways marked the resumption of daily services to Penang, Malaysia, with a welcome ceremony at Penang International Airport on 29 October 2023. The daily flights, operated on the Boeing 777 aircraft, connects Penang to the world via the tropical destination of Phuket, Thailand. This resumption will connect travellers from Penang to over 160 destinations across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and more via Doha and “World’s Best Airport” at Hamad International Airport.

The ceremony marked a pivotal moment for Qatar Airways as it reaffirmed its commitment to delivering passengers a seamless connectivity and a world-class travel experience. The resumption of daily services to Penang not only underscores Qatar Airways’ dedication to expanding its global network but also highlights its contribution to the growth of the aviation sector, both within the region and in Malaysia.

Qatar Airways Vice President for Sales Southeast Asia and Southwest Pacific, Jared Lee, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to welcome the resumption of daily services to Penang again, as this is our second gateway into Malaysia after Kuala Lumpur. The arrival of the Qatar Airways flight was marked with a grand water salute, symbolising a triumphant return to the skies and the strengthening of the airline’s commitment to Penang.

Additionally, the award-winning airline also announced the increase of an additional 7 flights to Kuala Lumpur starting 15 December 2023, bringing the total to 28 weekly flights (four daily flights), where 14 weekly flights are operated by codeshare partner, Malaysia Airlines, to meet the growing inbound and outbound travel demand.
