PETALING JAYA, 10 April 2019 – It was a night of glitz and glamour on the 7th April as leading celebrities and stars from the local television and film industry, converged at the Drama Festival Kuala Lumpur (DFKL) 2019 Awards.
Held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), the 2-hour awards show which is organised by Media Prima Berhad and is co-sponsored by realme malaysia, honored the best in film and television in 2018.
“We are thrilled to be the co-sponsor for the 6th Drama Festival Kuala Lumpur (DFKL) awards, a platform which not only celebrates the achievements of the television and film industry, but also helps discovers talented new actors and actresses through its series of workshops,” said Tiffany Teh, Brand Manager, realme malaysia.
Nur bagged the main prize at DFKL 2019 when it was named Choice Drama, beating 14 other nominees. The drama, directed by Shahrulezad Mohameddin, chronicles the tale of a compassionate and unconventional religious teacher who guides a prostitute back to the right path.
It also took home five other award categories including Choice Actor for Syafiq Kyle, Choice Director and Script for Shahrulezad Mohameddin, Choice Screen Couple for Amyra Rosli and Syafiq Kyle, and Choice Antagonist for Azhan Rani.
The awards’ ambassador Janna Nick won Choice Actress for Semerah Cinta Humairah, playing a woman who is forced into an unhappy marriage.
Hosting the awards show was Awal Ashaari while leading film personalities Amyra Rosli, Remy Ishak, Izzue Islam, Fatin Afifah, Datuk Fizz Fairuz, Hannah Delisha, Zara Zya, Naim Daniel, Edika Yusuf and Rozita Che Wan presented the award categories. Winners were voted by netizens via the awards’ website www.dfkl.com.my from 1st February to 25th March.
