The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) welcomes the announcement by the Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, on the Government’s decision to reopen the country’s international borders to healthcare travellers. This serves as a positive indicator for Malaysia’s economy as it marks a significant rebound for the healthcare travel industry.
As patient and visitor safety remain our topmost priority, this allowance is further subjected to the approved stringent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). These SOPs include, but are not limited to, healthcare travellers registering with MHTC before travelling here for treatment. More information regarding these SOPs will be made available to the public once details have been finalised.
Malaysia’s efficient management of the pandemic has seen a significant reduction in the number of cases. This is a testament to the trust and confidence in our robust healthcare system, substantiating Malaysia’s recognition as the World’s Healthcare Marvel. Our country’s strong foundation in pandemic preparedness has earned us global recognitions, particularly from the World Health Organization. As the nation unites to recover from these trying times, MHTC will continue to showcase Malaysia Healthcare’s capabilities and strengths as a world-class quality healthcare destination by paving the way for more innovative industry service offerings. We will keep all parties informed of the next steps as we prepare to welcome healthcare travellers back to our country. Until then, let us continue the fight to eradicate COVID-19 from our shores to showcase our capabilities as the World’s Healthcare Marvel.
