Keanu Subba Featured At ONE On Prime Video 3 Media Day In Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, 14 October 2022: ONE Championship, the largest martial arts organization in the world held a media day today via zoom with local MMA star Keanu Subba. The zoom media day gave media an opportunity to interact with Subba prior to his bout during ONE on Prime Video 3, on Saturday, October 22 at Axiata Arena against South Korea’s Yoon Chang Min (Pro MMA Record: 5-2).

About Yoon Chang Min

Fighting Agent War Tournament Winner Yoon Chang Min, also known as “The Big Heart”, was always a competitive child, and he took to martial arts instantly after trying kickboxing in high school. He even went on to become an amateur boxing champion.

Relying on his stellar boxing skills, Yoon tried his hand at mixed martial arts and went an undefeated 6-0 as an amateur. However, it wasn’t until he won Season 2 of a Japanese reality show called Fighting Agent War that he rose to prominence.

In pursuit of his dream to become the ONE Lightweight World Champion, Yoon sharpens his skills at Team MAD alongside some of South Korea’s top mixed martial artists.

Subba (Pro MMA Record: 9-5) said, “When I go out there and perform, I go all out. I give it my everything because that is my motto in life, and my fans deserve it. I wouldn’t be here without the fans, and I owe a lot to them. My next fight is going to be a spectacle and fans will surely not want to miss it. My time on the ONE Championship stage has been incredible for my career and I’m getting better everyday.”

Keanu’s most recent fight was at ONE Championship – ONE 160, where he won against Singapore’s Amir Khan via KO (Punches) in August of this year.

MIMMA Featherweight Champion Keanu was born to a Nepalese father and Malaysian mother in Kuala Lumpur. As a result, he was often picked on in school due to his mixed heritage, but Subba decided to embrace his identity instead and he soon earned the acceptance of his peers.

Although he began his martial arts journey with taekwondo, even winning several gold medals in the sport, his skills would lay dormant until he went to High School in the United States. There, he discovered mixed martial arts after watching it on television with his brother, Gianni, now one of ONE Championship’s top flyweights. The Subba brothers were determined to compete, but were unable to afford training in a gym. Undeterred, they studied videos on YouTube and tried the moves out on each other. This continued until Subba found out his cousin was suffering from cancer, and he decided to return to Malaysia to spend his last moments with him.

Back in Kuala Lumpur, Subba finally found a gym he could afford, and he began his formal training. After less than six months of training, he courageously took his first bout against Malaysian veteran AJ Lias Mansor. Although he ultimately lost by decision, his courage inspired his cousin, who called Subba his hero before tragically passing away. Subba went on to blaze a trail through the Malaysian scene to become a two-time MIMMA Featherweight Champion before signing with ONE Championship. Since debuting on the global stage, he has stopped several opponents in the very first round to stand out as one of the most exciting young talents to watch.
