EDOTCO, Telecom Infra Project, and Telkom University Forge a Collaboration to Pioneer Next-Generation Neutral Host Initiative in Southeast Asia

Barcelona, 29 February, 2024 – EDOTCO, a leading regional integrated telecommunications infrastructure services company, today announced a strategic collaboration with Telecom Infra Project (TIP) and Telkom University to revolutionise the telecommunications landscape in Southeast Asia. The collaboration was endorsed through an exchange of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the Mobile World Congress 2024, symbolising the inception of this transformative partnership aimed at driving innovation, connectivity, and inclusivity across the region.

The collaboration focuses on creating a neutral host ecosystem, enabling seamless connectivity across diverse networks. The collaboration will leverage open and disaggregated network technology standards to enhance digital experiences for businesses and consumers alike. With EDOTCO’s extensive experience in providing end-to-end solutions and TIP’s collaborative community approach, innovation in telecommunications infrastructure is set to accelerate. The Community Lab at Telkom University, supported by TIP, will serve as a pivotal hub for testing and validating these solutions, bringing together researchers, industry players, and startups to develop commercially viable products and services.

Gayan Koralage, Director of Strategy of EDOTCO Group, shared, “We are thrilled to partner with TIP and Telkom University to drive transformative change in the telecommunications sector. By merging our industry expertise with innovative solutions, we aim to redefine the digital landscape, creating a future where connectivity is not only advanced but also inclusive. While the initial focus will be on the Indonesian region, our extensive footprint in Asia positions us to replicate this project’s success in other countries. Together, we are committed to fostering a digital future that transcends boundaries, ensuring accessibility, and unlocking new possibilities for the evolving needs of Southeast Asia.

A key objective of the collaboration is to develop a comprehensive blueprint for the neutral host model within the telecommunications industry. By leveraging Open RAN solutions, the partners aim to create a scalable and efficient framework for seamless connectivity. Open RAN solutions will enable interoperability and flexibility, leading to more efficient utilisation of network resources and benefiting consumers and businesses with improved coverage, reduced latency, and enhanced digital experiences.

Mr. Kristian Toivo, Executive Director of TIP, emphasised the significance of this initiative, stating, “The neutral host initiative is a game-changer for the telecommunications landscape in Southeast Asia. As we embark on this transformative journey with EDOTCO, other TIP members and Telkom University, our collective vision is to unlock new possibilities that transcend conventional connectivity boundaries, positioning Southeast Asia at the forefront of the global digital revolution.”

Prof. Adiwijaya, Rector of Telkom University, said, “We are excited to partner with EDOTCO Group and TIP to drive connectivity innovation in Southeast Asia,” said Rector of Telkom University.

“This collaboration will create a telecommunications ecosystem that utilises open and disaggregated network technology standards, it can encourage innovation both technologically and business. in line with the role of the TIP Community Lab as a centre of excellence at Telkom University, which currently serves as a technology, regulatory and business research location as well as a testing and validation location for Open RAN Solutions.”
