EARTH DAY RESIDENCY AND EXHIBITION at EATON HK

EARTH DAY RESIDENCY AND EXHIBITION at EATON HK

Hong Kong, 26 March 2024 – From 16th – 17th April, as part of Eaton HK’s Earth Day programming, the purpose-driven hospitality company will partner with National Geographic Explorers to delve into climate action through indigenous preservation and archipelago stories. The programming builds off of Ways of Water, Eaton HK’s theme for last year’s Earth Month and shines a light on the severe impact of climate change for coastal communities.

The programming aims to engage youth, over a series of interactive sessions. Over the weekend of 13 April, youth groups will be invited to participate in ‘Island Constellations’ — Youth Atlas workshops around climate change supported by National Geographic. The workshops will range from art and tapestry making, to photography and even counter-mapping, a form of cartography that empowers marginalized people’s rights to land and resources.

A photography exhibition, Island Constellations, features images captured during previous workshops in which frontline and indigenous youth were tasked with capturing their regions with loaned cameras, will be on display in Eaton’s Food Hall until 15 May.

On 21 April, National Geographic explorers will host ‘Constellations’, an afternoon of knowledge sharing, beginning with an exhibition walkthrough and screening of ‘Bigger than Us, the 2021 documentary produced and directed by Flore Vasseur, co-produced by Marion Cotillard and written by Vasseur and Melati Wijsen. It was nominated for the César Award for Best Documentary Film in 2022 and follows Melati Wijsen, an 18-year-old Indonesian girl and well-established activist against plastic pollution in her country.
