Celebrating 90 years of Donald Duck: You’re invited to a quack-tasticbirthday bash atSunway Carnival Mall and Sunway Pyramid!

• The malls’ concourses will take on a nautical look, celebrating all things Donald with themed activities, photo ops, special merch and more fun for the whole family 
• Limited Meet & Greet sessions with beloved Disney characters: Donald Duck and Daisy Duck!   

Malaysia, 29 April 2024 – Happy birthday, Donald! In 2024, the feisty and lovable Donald Duck turns 90. His first official appearance was in the short film “The Wise Little Hen”, released on June 9, 1934.

In celebration of this milestone, Sunway Carnival Mall and Sunway Pyramid are inviting fans and shoppers in Malaysia to join in their “island parties”. These pop-ups will feature themed zones and displays starring not only Donald but also his girlfriend Daisy Duck; rambunctious nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie; his uncle Scrooge McDuck; his pal Mickey Mouse; and more familiar faces! 

The first pop-up will be at Sunway Carnival Mall from 25 April to 12 May 2024, before spreading the joy to Sunway Pyramid from 22 May to 9 June 2024, for a second round of birthday fun. With special merchandise and activities, the celebration promises to be a joyous occasion for Disney fans and families alike.

Themed zones and games: 

• Sail into style with the S.S. Miss Daisy Boat as it “docks” at Sunway Carnival Mall before making its way to Sunway Pyramid, inviting shoppers of all ages to join in the celebration and grab the perfect photo op. You can’t miss the giant Donald centrepiece as everyone’s favourite hot-headed duck dives into the action! 

• Kick back with Mickey & Friends inspired vibes at Friendship Island and try your hand at games such as Quack-a-Dart and Test-Your-Toss. Plus, shoppers stand a chance to bring home rewards from select activities by downloading the Sunway Malls App (terms & conditions apply). 

• Make a stop at Family Island, available only at Sunway Pyramid, where kids aged 3-12 can dive into Scrooge McDuck’s Money Bin ball pit (terms & conditions apply) or catch some of Donald’s greatest hits that will be screened on the TV, to relive your favourite Donald moments. 

• Shoppers will rejoice at the All Things Donald zone featuring special merchandise and gifts to mark the occasion. Here’s to the duck who’s been quacking us up since 1934!

Donald was conceived after Walt Disney heard performer Clarence Nash doing animal voices on the radio in the early 1930s and is still one of Disney’s most iconic characters today. Considered Mickey Mouse’s faithful squire, Donald Fauntleroy Duck is known for his quirky humour and short temper, but also for being a great friend, full of energy. 

The character, who has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, has appeared in more than 150 animated shorts; starred in dozens of television shows, including Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and DuckTales; appeared in theatrical features like Fantasia/2000; played characters in games like Kingdom Hearts and Disney Tsum Tsum; and appeared in numerous events like Disney on Ice. He even co-hosted the 1958 Academy Awards!
