KUALA LUMPUR, May 15, 2020 – Teachers world over have an impact in our lives long after we leave our schooling years. Their contribution and guidance shape a person’s mindset, personality and confidence to reach for their dreams.
In conjunction with Teachers Day, Domino’s Pizza commemorated and honoured the members of this noble profession by distributing over 100 delectable pizzas to 100 teachers nationwide, as a gesture of its appreciation for their contribution, love and support as they shape the future leaders of the nation.
Linda Hassan, Group Chief Marketing Officer of Domino’s Pizza Malaysia and Singapore said, “Teachers play an integral role in our lives as they mold the next generation. Even during the current COVID-19 situation with schools being closed, we are aware that teachers are still actively carrying out e-learning through various platforms. This goes to show that even a pandemic can’t break their spirits and passion for teaching their students and for this we truly salute all teachers!”
“We understand the recent months have been challenging. The typical school routine has changed significantly for students and teachers all around the world. Today, we celebrate their dedication, tenacity and enthusiasm for teaching. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for stepping up to the plate and for shouldering this very important responsibility of teaching our future generation. Your creativity, adapative strategies and care for our children is truly admirable. With our contribution, we also hope to fulfil many students wishes to give back to their teachers on this special day.”
Loving partners and teachers, Cikgu Quek and Cikgu Chang from SMK Subang Utama and SMK SS 17 Subang Jaya, said, “Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, my husband and I remained patient and our students are always on our minds. As educators, we continuously explore new and exciting ways to reach out and continue teaching our students. The recent months tested our creativity however we are happy as we too have grown and learned from this experience. What is important is that our students continue their journey for knowledge despite these circumstances.”
Cikgu Ainul Mardiah from SK Dr Sulaiman,Tampin., said “I would like to thank Domino’s for the support and joy that is spread to teachers nationwide. These past few months presented mixed situations to students nationwide. While some were coping with learning from home there were also others who faced limitations for this. I sincerely hope for all of the students to keep their spirits high during this pandemic.”
Meanwhile, Cikgu Jaqulene Francis from SMK Convent Sitiawan expressed, “We truly miss our students and our classrooms. We hope to continue supporting our students and that all students are keeping safe at home.”
In line with its promise of ‘It’s All About You’, Domino’s strongly believes in the importance of enhancing the lives of its communities through various engagement efforts and this is demonstrated by giving back to the community through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. As part of its ongoing CSR efforts, Domino’s tapped into the education sector by launching Domino’s Support Schools Program (DSSP) in 2002 with a sole aim of assisting the learning process of young Malaysians. Today, Domino’s has over 300 primary and secondary schools under its care and has positively impacted the lives of over a million students through various initiatives nationwide throughout the years. Among others, DSSP rewards students who excel in academic, sports and co-curricular, helps needy children with school-related items, organises learning seminars for personal improvements and assists schools in their fund-raising activities. The programme has provided progressive and holistic impact to students’ developments.
